Dr. Samina Ahmad graduated from the University of Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan, with a degree in Medicine. Beginning her medical career as a doctor of Internal Medicine she was deeply concerned about health care and its availability to underprivileged women and children. Subsequently, Samina set up and administered a hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, the Al-Rehman Welfare Trust & Medical Center. In addition to her medical responsibilities she has worked as a scriptwriter, director, producer, and host to numerous highly popular television programs which targeted issues such as health care, nutrition, family planning and social issues. She is currently hosting a new internet based TV show on downtowntv.com about global wellness, expected to begin in September 2007. In addition to her TV programming, she was South Asia's leading journalist in the field of wellness with three monthly columns in publications read by 12 million people. In 2002 she moved to the United States. A certified Holistic Health Counselor, she recently graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, New York, qualifying for national certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She also received a certificate of completion for educational outreach from the Teachers College of Columbia University. In addition to her work and studies in health and wellness issues, she is presently the Business Manager for Junoon, a highly acclaimed, internationally renowned, Pakistani rock band that specializes in Sufi music promoting peace throughout the world.
