Lea David (Vision Program Co-Educator) |
 Lea David was born and raised in Belgrade (former Yugoslavia). In 1999 she moved to Israel due to seven years of the ongoing Balkan wars and eventual NATO bombing of her home city. Since that time she has lived in Israel, currently residing in South Tel Aviv. During the last decade, Lea has deconstructed and reconstructed her various identities, an individual who identifies as a Communist, Pioneer, Atheist, Yugoslav, Serb, Christian, Jew, and Israeli. Prior to 1999, she studied Ethnology and Anthropology at the University of Belgrade and in Mostar (Bosnia), training to become an educator in Social Theater. In 1998 she worked in three Polish orphanages as part of the Open Society Program. Upon moving to Israel she started her BA studies for a second time, going on to receive a BA in Sociology and Anthropology and an MA in General History from the University of Haifa. Her Master's thesis was titled "The Concept of Violence in 19th Century Serbia manifested by the Abduction of Women for Marriage Purposes." During her MA studies, she served as a Teaching Assistant. In addition, she was the Coordinator of "Betzafta", a Jewish Studies Project for secular students, for four years and volunteered with the "House on Wheels", a program working with disabled children, for three years. Currently she is teaching Palestinian children from Jaffa in a unique educational program, while also exploring and creating her own art.
