Eileen Soffer (Unity Program II Co-Educator)

ImageEileen Soffer was born in upstate New York and moved to Los Angeles when she was eight. She moved to Berkeley for college and, except for one year in England, has lived in the Bay Area ever since. Eileen develops curricula and teaches courses for teens, families and adults on a range of topics including Jewish history, Biblical and other traditional texts, ethics, and identity. She has planned and led professional development seminars and created teacher resources for high school educators. Over the years, Eileen has designed, implemented, and overseen a broad array of educational programming for synagogues and non-profits. She is a trained interviewer for Steven Spielberg’s Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation and, on her own, creates videos of family stories/histories using interviews, photographs and documents. Eileen spent a good deal of time last year traveling to different states for the presidential primaries and general election. She received her Bachelors degree in political theory and Masters degree in public policy, both from UC Berkeley.
