Samia Shoman, Unity Program Co-Educator

Dr. Samia Shoman is a Palestinian American, one of seven children born to Palestinian parents originally from Beit Hanina, a village near Jerusalem. She received her BA in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, an MA in Multicultural Education along with a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Studies from San Francisco State University, and an EdD (Doctorate of Education) with an emphasis in Organization and Leadership from the University of San Francisco. Currently, Samia is a World History teacher and Varsity women’s soccer coach at Hillsdale High School in San Mateo. She has also worked with the Arab and Muslim Ethnicities and Diasporas Initiative at San Francisco State University as a lecturer, teaching courses on Arab American identities and media images. Previously, Samia has conducted several trainings for high school teachers on using a dual narratives approach to teaching the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In her free time she enjoys playing soccer, traveling, and reading.
